About the Program
At The Good Shit, we believe that everyone deserves to participate in gardening and enjoy the many benefits it has to offer. In collaboration with passionate individuals and local businesses, we are dedicated to supporting families in Ottawa facing financial challenges by providing them with sustainable organic garden kits.
How it Works
When you sponsor a garden, you're providing local families with the opportunity to start growing their own food. You can make any contribution of $10 or more, which will go towards the cost of a complete garden kit ($350). Each garden kit includes a cedar bed customized to fit the recipient's space and physical accessibility needs, organic seedlings, premium soil mix, planting instructions, and delivery.
Our goal for the 2024 season is to support 30 families - a total cost of $10,500. These families have already been identified through our application process. As of July 12, 2024 we have raised almost $5000 and have supported 15 families. We plan to continue to raise funds and will provide the remaining families with a fall garden.
We will share the impact of your donation through regular updates, showcasing the progress and stories of the families benefiting from the program. As a thank you, individuals will receive a curated selection of heirloom vegetable seeds. Businesses will receive recognition on our social media and web pages.
