Welcome to The Good Shit

The Good Shit is about relationship.

Between soil, plants, animals, and people. What one leaves behind becomes what another needs. Yes, we are talking about poop. But also responsibility, reciprocity, and keeping good things moving through the system instead of throwing them away.

Nothing here exists in isolation. Nutrients cycle. Care circulates. When we honour those relationships, soil gets healthier, food grows better, and communities are stronger.

Through The Good Garden, our new nonprofit arm, these same principles are shared through community-led growing and food access initiatives.

Let's grow something good... Spread the good shit!

30% of our proceeds is reinvested to increase access to organic gardening in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that The Good Shit operates on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People.

We recognize the Algonquin Anishinaabe as the original caretakers of this land and honour their enduring relationship with it, including their stewardship, knowledge, and responsibilities carried forward since time immemorial.

As a Métis-led initiative, we hold our own distinct histories of land, kinship, and displacement, while recognizing that this place is not our ancestral homeland. We grow and live here with gratitude, humility, and respect, and with an ongoing responsibility to learn from and honour the Algonquin Anishinaabe People whose land this is. We commit to listening, learning, and acting in ways that uphold respectful relationships with the land and with all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

"I am incredibly satisfied with my Good Shit Garden Kit! I went from growing a handful of small, end-rot ridden roma tomatoes in 2022 to growing 30kg of healthy, delicious romas this season, amongst other happy veggies and herbs - all thanks to the chicken manure and Cole's informative and easy co-planting tips. The reclaimed raised bed is beautiful to top it off! I would HIGHLY recommend any of The Good Shit products and resources to anyone looking to start or amp up their gardening game while supporting a sustainable and local business!"

“I had 1 cubic yard of chicken manure delivered to me by Cole from The Good Shit. My garden didn’t just come alive, it ascended to a higher dimension. Every single plant is thriving and producing early abundant harvests. My backyard is 20x20 feet and I’m officially stocked up and preserved all our vegetable and herbs until next spring. All our harvests are now being shared with friends & community. I’ve never had this happen! My tomato plants have always been prone to blight and this is my first season ever where this hasn’t been an issue. This was my most hands off season of gardening and by far my most successful one, thanks to The Good Shit.”

"Everything is thriving in our garden. In fact, so much so that the garden overfloweth!! Yup, the cucumbers and squash are growing over the lawn now! It has been an absolute joy for our family this year. We are already enjoying basil, parsley, dill, lettuce, swiss chard, tomatoes, beans and cucumbers. I am so excited for the peppers and squash next. Thanks again for everything. You have created a little slice of heaven here in Chelsea for us."
